Paralegal-Trainee Solicitor

Paralegal/Trainee Solicitor Vacancies

We are currently looking for ambitious LPC graduates, interested in working in the commercial property sector to join our Altrincham and Ilkley offices.  Based either in the suburbs of Greater Manchester or Leeds you will initially provide support to our transactional lawyers.

Duties will include:

  • supporting senior lawyers on larger transactions and projects;

  • setting up and managing property information portals for clients;

  • dealing with licences and low value transactions under the supervision of the senior lawyers who you will sit with;

  • liaising with clients, other professionals, local authorities and the Land Registry to request information, provide updates and progress matters;

  • assisting with post-completion matters, including preparing stamp duty land tax returns and Land Registry applications.

Full training will be provided, but some prior knowledge of commercial property practice will be advantage. Ideally candidates will have undertaken the advanced property elective on the LPC.  As we only deal with commercial property work an interest in this subject area is essential.

We offer all paralegals who show that they are committed to working in the field of commercial property and demonstrate an aptitude for the work the opportunity to progress to a trainee solicitor position usually within 6 months of their paralegal start date. When paralegals are awarded training contracts, we apply for the time spent as a paralegal (up to a maximum of 6 months) to be counted towards the completion of the training contract, ensuring qualification at the earliest opportunity. We are proud to report that almost all of the paralegals we take on become trainee solicitors with the firm.

Our trainee solicitors spend time working in all of Land Law’s different teams and gain experience in practice areas including commercial property, commercial litigation, property litigation and property finance.  We also offer trainees the opportunity to meet and mix with their contemporaries working for other Manchester based firms, by paying for them to be members of the Manchester Trainee Solicitor Group so they can attend their functions should they wish to, and by arranging for completion of the Professional Skills Course via one of the Manchester based providers.

If Land Law sounds like the firm for you, and you would be interested in pursuing your career in commercial property with us please send your CV and a covering letter to [email protected].
