At Land Law we are committed to making our firm the best place to work that it can be – for everyone. We therefore strive to promote diversity, equality and inclusion throughout our business, which we hope offers a warm welcome and a supportive and happy environment for everyone.

We are extremely proud that 62% of our lawyers and 67% of our equity partners (including our second ever managing partner) are women – figures that smash the legal professional’s average statistics across the country and ensure there isn’t any risk of our female lawyers’ career prospects being hampered by a glass ceiling.

But we can’t rest on our laurels – there is always more to be done and improvements to be made. We will therefore continue to ensure that diversity is one of our core values when we are recruiting, working with and promoting staff and dealing with others.

The Solicitors Regulations Authority require solicitor’s firms to carry out an annual diversity survey for their firm and to publish the data for both staff and externally. Completion of the survey by people within the firm is not compulsory. In 2023 over 70% of our diversity surveys were returned completed.

Some highlights from our 2023 survey include:

  • 77% of respondents identified as female.
  • 19.5% of respondents were aged between 25-34 years of age, 13% were between 35-44 years of age, 26% were between 45-54 years of age and 26% were in the 55-64 years of age bracket. 6% were between 16 and 24 and 3.5% were over 65.
  • 32% of respondents attended selective state-run or state-funded schools and 45% attended non-selective state-run or state-funded schools.
  • 58.5% of respondents came from homes where neither parent attended university by the time they were 18.

We are not required to publish information relating to religion or belief, sexual orientation, or transgender. The Solicitors Regulation Authority require us to publish the data in a way that does not identify individuals. The full results of our latest survey are available in our offices.
