Helen has practised as a commercial property lawyer since 1996, joining Land Law in 2006. Since her appointment as a partner in the firm in 2008, she has been responsible for compliance and client care, securing the firm’s Lexcel accreditation in 2012 and maintaining it ever since.
This naturally led to Helen becoming more involved in the management of the firm. An integral member of the firm’s management board since 2015, in June 2024 Helen was delighted to be appointed as the firm’s Managing Partner, taking over the role from founder Angus Whyte.
Helen says “Clients are at the centre of what we do, we strive to be a centre of excellence and an integral part of our clients’ teams. We are passionate about what we do and how we do it. If we get those things right, everything else should follow naturally”.
Helen has a wealth of experience, and clients consider her to be “very astute, very clear with her advice, very proactive and thorough”.
From a legal viewpoint Helen has specific expertise in the following areas:
- Complex site assembly and development projects;
- Acquisitions, lettings and disposals of commercial properties;
- Infrastructure projects (including drainage and energy); and
- Airport and general transport related commercial property work.
Helen led the legal team at Land Law in the legal aspects of delivering the land interests of the RHS Garden Bridgewater, a 154 acre green space and one of the largest projects of its nature in Europe in recent years.
In addition to her management responsibilities, Helen acts for a wide range of clients which include developers, investors, infrastructure and transport related businesses. She also regularly acts for landowners in connection with drainage and energy related infrastructure projects and has advised on the property related aspects of the disposal and acquisition of businesses.
Outside of work Helen enjoys running, cycling and paddleboarding.
