Ruth is property litigation lawyer who has experience acting for a wide range of clients, including financial institutions, national retailers, tenants, developers and landlords in relation to real property disputes and property management work.
Areas of particular expertise include all aspects of property management disputes, from recovery of rent arrears, dilapidations and forfeiture claims, rent review and service charge disputes, lease renewal proceedings, to insolvency litigation concerning property (including CVAs) and real property disputes relating to adverse possession, development contracts, clawback and overage disputes, restrictive covenants and easements.
Ruth has advised on:
- The review and enforcement of development contracts for a government body in relation to the recovery of monies due pursuant to clawback provisions;
- The implications of and amendments to tenant CVA’s for and on behalf of commercial landlords;
- The termination of a conditional contract for sale and defending a claim for damages relating thereto;
- Compliance with onerous conditions attached to a tenant break clause.
Ruth completed her training contract and qualified as a solicitor at Ward Hadaway. She joined the Land Law property litigation team in 2006 where she spent over 5 years before moving to Walker Morris LLP as part of a relocation north of the Pennines. Ruth returns to Land Law as a partner and has set up and heads the Yorkshire office for Land Law in Ilkley.
Ruth is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Association of Women in Property.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoys running, cycling and reading.
